Sharing a post that I have just made in Facebook :

‘Nelson Mandela has died. But I hope humanity and real educated people have truly grown as a result of his sacrifice. Don’t preach what he had said, but do what he had done and pass on the torch of hope to generations of people to come. Then, the sacrifice of Mandela will not be in vain. And so are our forefathers whose sacrifice is to ensure we live better because we have grown a genuine heart for peoples around the globe. That’s the ultimate peace. Papers about peace don’t work, but actions of peace do.-@karen_fu’

Charlie Chaplin is not just a great comedian, he is a great humanist. Don’t think I need to write anything as I paste the video here for your viewing pleasure. This video has some of the most pertinent issues for us to reflect on what have been done and are still continuing.

In response to ‘if phd was drudgery’ i could not help it but to reply a seemingly poetic response with the following not so poetic poem….. Enjoy nonethess :

Begone drudgery!

Pray true to all great education
Doctorate or not,
To bestow sheer modesty and creativity
Wisdom and intellect ;
To serve and to give
And not take and forget
That every decent being, how big or small, can be a genius
With or without PhD

Until
That wisdom comes ,
To know the universal truth of justice
Earnestly rectify human flaws
That breach rights of deserving beings
Denial of respect;
No one shall call themselves scholars

Only till human designs are true to the soul
And research be right on the heart
To both man and nature alike
Can we be truly call ourselves educated.
